Cavendish Square turns up the heat this winter with the Cavendish Square Taste of Winter and the Cavendish Square Celebrity Kitchen Challenge with Expresso and Smile 90.4FM. which takes place this weekend in the Cavendish Square Centre Court from Friday 5th July to Sunday 7th July, between 10am and 3pm, daily.
See your favourite Expresso television personalities Katlego Maboe, Ewan Strydom and Leigh-Anne Williams and Smile 90.4FM radio presenters Eloise Pretorius, Bobby Brown, Maurice Carpede, Cato Bekker, Reinard Ludick and Unity Ruiters, live in action, at the Cavendish Square Celebrity Kitchen.
Shoppers will challenge the presenters to a cook off with one of the participating Cavendish Square Restaurants and Food Outlets and stand a chance to win fabulous prizes. Challenges will be judged by a panel of judges, including a representative from Food Blog Cape Town. See who will be judged the better cook – your favourite presenter or the challenger!
There will be loads of fun, free food tastings and lots of giveaways, so don’t miss out!
Visitors to Cavendish Square can also look forward to cookery demonstrations taking place every morning at 10am from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 July in the Cavendish Kitchen situated in the Centre Court at Cavendish Square.
Do your bit for those less fortunate this winter and bring along food, clothing and blanket donations. These can be placed in the boxes provided in the Centre Court and we will make sure they are distributed to Expresso’s nominated Charity – Cheesekids, and Smile 90.4FM’s Charity – Athlone School for the Blind.

| Friday 5 July | 3pm | Cavendish Square Celebrity Kitchen Challenge with Mugg & Bean and Smile 90.4FM’s Reinard Ludick and Unity Ruiters | Two Cavendish Square Shoppers challenge Reinard & Unity to see who can make the best Chocolate Ganache. Their cake decorating skills will be put to the test under the guidance and supervision of Cavendish Mugg & Bean’s Bryan Watson and their master baker, Lucy Arendse.

| Saturday 6 July | 10am | Cooking demonstration and tasting with Pick n Pay | Pick n Pay is due to open at Cavendish Square before the end of the year and gives shoppers a taste of what to expect in their new store.
Pick n Pay’s very own celebrity chef, Tjaart Walraven, will demonstrate how to make Bread & Butter Pudding and Durban Chicken Curry.

| Saturday 6 July | 12pm | Cavendish Square Celebrity Kitchen Challenge with TriBakery and Expresso’s Ewan Strydom | Ewan Strydom from Expresso and a Cavendish Shopper will be challenged to see who can make the better version of TriBakery’s famous Eggs Benedict. This challenge is not for the faint hearted and has quite a few pressure points!

Leigh-Anne Williams or her Challenger, a shopper from Cavendish Square? Under the supervision “Sensei” Andy, Ocean Basket Master Sushi Maker, the contestants will be tasked with preparing “The Funky Crunchy” – Ocean Basket’s very latest Signature Sushi dish of Sushi Roll filled with Prawns, Cream Cheese, Avocado, and then flash fried to a crunchy golden brown outer and topped with Japanese mayonnaise & drizzled with sweet chili sauce.

The contestants will need to prepare Chorizo, Sun-dried tomato and Basil Pesto Tagliatelle |
