Headquarters (HQ) is situated on trendy Shortmarket Street in the heart of Cape Town within national monument Heritage Square. The renowned steak house and bar now offers #BoardwalkEmpire – a night of deep house and deep techno every Thursday in conjunction with their new cocktail and bar menus.
The sophisticated urban haunt is inspired by the glamour and intrigue of Paris in the 1950s; and the vim and vigour of London of the same period—when music was an essential key to life. Expect top local acts and DJs playing cutting-edge deep techno and deep house music in the bar and lounge area while revellers can tuck into offerings off the new bar menu.
If you’re in the mood for a heartier meal, slip into a red leather booth at the main restaurant for a steak dinner: expect grass-fed sirloin served with HQ’s signature Café de Paris butter, as well as thin-cut chips and salad.
The new cocktail menu offers imaganitive cocktails made with premium spirits, such as ‘An Unmarried Japanese Woman’: a blend of SKYY Citrus Vodka, steeped Christmas cake liqueur, cranberry syrup, and fresh lime; so named for a term that became popular in the 1980s where in Japan, women had traditionally been expected to marry at a young age and those who were unmarried after the age of 25 were sometimes scornfully referred to as Christmas cakes (unsold after the 25th). The range of inventive cocktails encapsulates even more stories; where a drink becomes a journey into the past. Also on offer are top-drawer wines, Champagne, craft beer and more.
The night celebrates the exuberance of the mid-century, when guys and gals dressed to impress; and danced till dawn. So come channelling the likes of Elizabeth Taylor, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe.
